Disrespectful of Prof Jayashankar?

There was very vigorous discussion on my recent posts in my blog. Many people chose to comment on them. Some are constructive, and some are, predictably, abusive. Some are substantive and some others are pointless. It is a mixed bag, as usual.

One person, currently ‘employed by a reputed MNC’ (in his own description), wrote that he was angry with me because I said or wrote something disrespectful about late Prof Jayashankar.

When a couple of participants in the Facebook discussion challenged him to produce evidence, he wanted 24 hours time. It is more than ten days now, and he did not return. Obviously, he did not find any evidence to substantiate his allegation or what he heard as an allegation against me.

He not only found no evidence; he also found no courage to admit that he was wrong.

In the comments and responses to my posts I noticed that some others like him were upset with me because they too were told that I wrote something disrespectful about Prof Jayashankar in Visalandhra Mahasabha’s blog.

Before I proceed further, I must mention that I had met Prof Jayashankar on several occasions. He was also a guest on my TV shows at least a couple of times. I found him to be a very courteous, decent and mild mannered person. He hardly raised the pitch of his voice in discussions – unlike many TV panellists that we see today. I never had reason to form any adverse opinion about him. Nor did I develop any special admiration for him. We knew each other’s positions on several matters. We knew our disagreements. But disagreements never stopped us from being civil and respectful to each other.

Visalandhra Mahasabha’s Telugu blog (as well as its English one) has posts and comments from a variety of sources and authors. It also has articles and news items from various journals and news papers. We post material even from Namaste Telangana.

The write up that some people are referring to as disrespectful of Late Prof Jayashankar was, I learn, posted by one Sri Rallabandy Ravindranath in the blog. In fact he is on Facebook too (by the same name!) and can certify the authorship of his post.

However, when Sri Nalamotu Chakravarthy, President of Visalandhra Mahasabha, found it to be in bad taste it was removed on the same day within a few hours.

I haven’t even had a chance to look at that post, in fact.

People who really looked at that post couldn’t have missed the name of its author. It was clearly mentioned under the post.

To attribute that to me is at best ignorance. And at worst, pure mischief.

As I said earlier, the blog has posts from multiple sources/authors, including material from Namaste Telangana. Even if it’s reproduced in our blog, an item from Namaste Telangana remains an item of Namaste Telangana. Visalandhra Mahasabha doesn’t become the item’s author.

Any post other than the ones posted by the Admin of the site cannot be, in all fairness, attributed to the site or those associated with the organization that administers the site. This is a very simple, straightforward, clear and uncomplicated norm. It is surprising that some netizens are either ignorant of this or chose to wilfully neglected this obvious norm to spread canards.

However, as far as my own blog is concerned, I follow a completely different code.

I post my writings alone in it.

I allow every comment on my writings – good, bad, as well as filthy and abusive – to appear. Uncensored.

If you spend a little time to look in, you will not miss chaste ‘boothulu’ and choicest abuses posted by some separatists as responses to my posts in my blog. Some of them said filthy things about my mother, wife and daughter too. I allowed them in order to hold up a mirror to them so that even if they don’t publicly admit it today, they and their ‘friends’ would realise one day how shameful their conduct was.

I also wanted them to know that anybody could say exactly the same things about their mothers, wives, and daughters. It’s just as easy for anybody to say such things as it was for them.

It is also significant that none of their ‘friends’ joined issue with them for saying such filthy things. Nor did they feel responsible to publicly disapprove of such comments.

That says a lot.

Prabhakarji, it takes a lot of courage to stand up to propaganda and I must congratulate you for taking a position and supplementing your position with data. There may be difference of opinions in a debate, esp. on something as sensitive as the Telangana – Samaikya Andhra issue, but an opposing view point must not become personal attack. The saner elements articulating the separate Telangana viewpoint must articulate their view and also oppose the personal attacks being made. Where there is no opposition, it is not called a democracy…

It was nice article. A lot of patience and courage is required to be like this. I admire you for this. Hope after seeing this some people will mind their language.

    Re: PV Narasimha Rao:

I recently read somewhere that the real credit for modernsation of Indian economy goes to PVN Rao, but he gratiously let the team,i.e., Manmohan Singh, Rangarajan etc take the credit and thus remained more or less an unsung hero

sir, I have read your article and seen your discussions on TV. It was very meaning full and in a decent way. I dont know why MP’s like sarve sathyanarayana, KCR try to blame you and bark like dogs without any sense. I dont know why the so called educated people abuse you without thinking their education, job status and all. It is very disgusting to see their posts. is this the education they learned? where are our standards leading to?

All that you are saying reflects our Society.Even in our Assembly members behave in a vulgar way and spread Rumours, lies, half truths. So too is our aggressive 24×7 media.Yes I agree with what you are doing.Silently bare and forgive these idiots.Expose their immaturity and cheap behaviour. Why cant they be objective?Instead they heap a lot of LIES that they themselves spread without mentioning the source of the information.

They are so over-confident in their bullying, lying brand of nasty politics.Y.S.R too said kui.kui..kui…in many election meetings trying to advertise 108 Ambulance services and Jala Yajna. But all educated people knew then how much he was swindling and how much he was subverting all our Democratic institutions and how he was turning the state into Kadapa style ‘open show bully’ and Dalaari politics.Today all his practises are getting exposed to the common public. He became so overconfident that he claimed even Gods were pleased with his rule that they blessed the state with rains during his tenure.Ironically the same Rains killed him.

Similarily at this exponential growth of Internet, people are growing more knowledgeable and people are getting to know how to sift the truth from 24X7 media and politicians and five years down the lane KCR’s brand of politics will be exposed.History will not forgive him.Just hang on and keep doing the right thing.

Soon with a successful JanLokpal Political Business will also become less viable and that too will expose these brand of politics.

We have a second front of Aggressive and bottomless vile politics run by Y.S.Jagan called ‘Eduru Den****’ using vile and acid tongues like Ambati Rambabu etc. That will also soon come to end and finally Telugu Talli will soon feel releived from the straglehold of these crooks.

Whatever Motives you have what you and Nalamotu Chakravarty are doing is of immense help to our Society and I would like to Thank you both. Also expose these brand of politics at the National Media level.Local Media is too afraid to open their mouth lest their offices be ransacked.

    Some questions if you please:

    – Is Mr. Rallabandy Ravindranath a member of VMS?
    – Does he continue to have administrative privileges on the VMS blogspot?
    – What action if any has been taken by VMS on him (apart from deleting the post)?
    – Same questions about Mr. LBS Tadepalli

I understand Namasthe Telangana editors don’t have the right to post on VMS blog. VMS blog owner reproduce the text under due credit (presumably after obtaining the author’s permission?). This is different from Rallabandy (or Tadepalli) who can directly post to the VMS blog.

No non sense. When we are Prabhakar is following restraint as a policy, why are undoing him. This kind of language is not forgiveable.

    Dear Prabhakarji,

I have few questions. I hope you find a little time answering:

    1) You are attributing choicest abuses to separatists(?!) allegedly Telangana supporters, while I found abuses mainly from socalled integrationists. Is Mr. Yadav above a separatist in your thinking or is it that his language is of your taste?

    2) Is using the word separatists does not come under abuse or is it that VMS and you do not know what is the meaning of separatists and using it in the wrongly to refer to telangana supporters?

    I know this fellow Rallabandi Ravindranath.. Seen him on facebook.
