It’s Two Months!

It’s two months since I have taken over as the Advisor (Communications) to the Government of Andhra Pradesh. I have now an opportunity to use communications to contribute to the building of a new state. Almost from foundation. We are making an effort to make communications a tool for development.

I did whatever I could to oppose the division of the state. But powerful forces succeeded in bifurcating the state. The mother state of Andhra Pradesh got a raw deal in the process. The Act that divided the state was lopsided, ill thought out, and denied AP a level playing field. The state now is lumbered with a huge financial deficit, lost many institutions, has no capital, and the administration is forced to sit almost 170 kilometres away from the territory it administers.

There are huge challenges staring at us. But there are huge opportunities too.

Fortunately, the state has the wherewithal to convert the challenges into advantages. It is endowed with rich natural and mineral resources, long coastline, progressive farmers, and above all it is blessed with a vibrant young population which is qualified, skilled and is raring to go.

The Chief Minister has outlined a clear vision. He is focussed. His ability to work hard has not come down over the years. In fact, most of those who work with him are unable to catch up with his speed.

It is a right mix of challenge, opportunity, leadership and vision that we see in the new state of Andhra Pradesh.

Our state is now the most happening state in the country. Our goals are very clear. We want to be one of the three top performing states in the country by 2022, the year our country celebrates its 75th anniversary of independence. And by 2029, Andhra Pradesh should be the top performing state.

We are trying to make this objective not merely a governmental objective. It ought to be the objective of the entire people of the new Andhra Pradesh. Development of AP now has to be a peoples’ movement.

I hope we from our office of Advisor (Communications) will be able to contribute our mite to this gigantic effort.

Wish us well.

    Dear Sir,

It’s been two months and I am thankful for the opportunity bestowed to you as the media communications advisor. While you had been able to raise a scepter of question on the Telangana movement, unfortunately it had come as too little too late (which I am not saying is your fault). The intellectuals of AP had not been able to counter the criticism effectively and had been left to the rest of us to counter this flood of ignominy. Just as you had no choice but to fight, I myself had to do it through writing letters to Andhra Jyothy editor, the then chief ministers of AP and various universities (during various junctures – not to all of them all the time) which I have later published on telugunadublog.wordpress.com . I still remember you trying to debate with IJU leader Mr. Srinivas Reddy to no avail and also the attach by Telangana jounalists on Visalandhra Maha Sabha in Hyderabad and their mockery.

I, therefore, was very much keen on your leadership when you took charge as the media advisor of AP and it has been iconic two months where many white papers had been released. But, of course, I personally needed more which you might have recognized thru various messages and tweets from me. 🙂 I understand this blog is a personal one and perhaps you do not have the authority to release government action plan in various areas. But, I must say I would have very much liked to see a concrete plan if not a detailed one, so that we can hold you accountable. My intent of holding you accountable is not to disparage you but for the benefit of the state.

I hope on of the items on your agenda as you take steps towards the miles you need to go, is addressing the issue of Telugu identity. The Telugu identity is now broken, and the identity of seemandhra is virtually non-existent. Sir, I hope you can address thru making the people of both regions equal partners in the making of the new state. In this journey, I hope you will be able to successfully maneuver the opposition to join hands with the government in various decisions.

    Wishing you the best.

Wish you all the best in your endeavour to make A.P is one of the three best states when we reach our freedom 75 years old.

It is a challenge for all of us to convert every disadvantage into an advantage. That is the story of a successful man or organization. Convert every thereat into an opportunity.

Japan has become a super economic power in the world after it was bombed and devastated in world war II.

I had the opportunity of spending 4 weeks in Japan and had the luck of working with Japanese Engineers.

Do you know that en Engineer or to that effect any one employed in an organization, retires in the same one. They say whether they work for one organization or the other they are working for their country and it makes no difference where the work.

Fortunately you have a good boss who understand hard work and it will pay back one day or the other.

I had the fortune of personally meeting him in one of the DRDA exhibition at Vijayawada about a decade ago.

If you have build our State as per his vision, you have no other alternative than adapting Japanese culture of working.

You have abundant resources within the Sate, outside the State in India and Abroad. You must have the resource and will power to tap.

    wish you all the best
